A Florida bakery’s $3,000 shipment of cinnamon rolls disappeared en route last week, leading staff to suspect a delivery driver of theft. The order, intended for a wholesale customer, never arrived as scheduled. According to bakery management, the courier reported the goods as delivered, but video footage from the loading dock showed no sign of the driver.
The bakery reported the incident to local police and posted about the loss on social media. The missing shipment attracted attention from law enforcement due to the size of the order and the cross-state logistics involved. On Wednesday, Border Patrol officers at a checkpoint in Texas discovered the boxes of cinnamon rolls during a routine inspection of a commercial vehicle. Authorities have not stated how the pastries traveled from Florida to Texas.
Bakery staff say the loss affected both production schedules and cash flow. "Stolen or not, we suffered a loss," a spokesperson said by phone on Thursday. The business has since changed courier services.
The incident comes as bakeries across the region prepare for increased autumn demand, with back-to-school orders and holiday events on the horizon. Management says they are working to restore customer confidence and review delivery protocols.
As of Friday morning, police had not announced any arrests. The bakery’s owners say they are focused on completing outstanding orders ahead of the weekend.
