On Tuesday afternoon, the Chipotle at 14th Street and Sixth Avenue saw a steady stream of customers checking phones for reward codes. A manager there said lunchtime visits spiked after news of the giveaway spread on social media.
Chipotle previously used digital games to drive engagement, but this marks one of its largest food giveaways to date. The company did not specify how many free food codes will be distributed each day, only that the total value would reach $1 million before the promotion ends.
