Taco Bell is bringing back the Choco Taco, adding a new spin to the discontinued dessert. The chain began offering the updated version in New York City locations this week. The new Choco Taco features churro-flavored ice cream, a collaboration with Salt & Straw, according to company representatives.
On Monday morning, Midtown Taco Bell employees said the novelty item is priced at $3.99. It arrives just as autumn temperatures start to cool and students return to area schools. The release follows last autumn’s Tacolate, a waffle cone taco hybrid that drew lines in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
The current rollout includes limited participating stores in Manhattan and Queens. Salt & Straw, known for offbeat ice cream flavors, developed the cinnamon-laced filling. The shell remains familiar: a crisp taco-shaped cone, dipped in chocolate and nuts.
Taco Bell’s partnership with Salt & Straw marks another attempt to draw crowds with nostalgia-forward desserts. Early lunchtime foot traffic on Broadway reported steady sales, with some customers ordering the Choco Taco alongside standard taco combos.
Company officials have not confirmed how long the Choco Taco will stay on the menu. For now, the dessert is available while supplies last.
