The U.S. Open returns to the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park this Sunday. Matches run through September 13. Thousands are expected daily, with early arrivals forming lines by 9 a.m. outside the East Gate.
Inside the grounds, food courts and satellite stands have been restocked for the summer crowds. The Grandstand Food Village features a mix of established vendors and several new names. Local Queens businesses share space with national chains. Notable this year: a stall selling birria tacos from a Jackson Heights taqueria, and a return of the oyster bar near Court 17.
Outside the gates, Roosevelt Avenue restaurants anticipate a spike in pre- and post-match diners. On Sunday afternoon, ramen shops and Cantonese bakeries along Main Street reported increased foot traffic. Several restaurants posted extended hours for the tournament period.
Tournament organizers note that security lines may slow entry during peak lunch and dinner times. Patrons are encouraged to arrive early if they plan to eat before a scheduled match. Coolers and outside food are still prohibited on the grounds, a rule that has been enforced strictly by security staff in recent years.
For spectators staying late, most on-site food options close by 10 p.m. Local diners and corner bodegas remain open for those leaving after the night matches.
