Fellow, a coffee equipment maker known among café professionals, has reduced the price of its Espresso Series One machine by $200 this week. The sale, visible on the company’s website as of Tuesday morning, brings the cost down to $495.
Baristas in Carroll Gardens and Midtown, reached by phone on Monday, noted that home espresso equipment often surges in popularity during summer months, as regulars take vacations and look to replicate café drinks at home. "People ask about home machines every June, right after school lets out," said Andrew Kim, a shift supervisor at a Park Slope café.
The Series One, launched earlier this year, is marketed to both home users and smaller commercial operations. It features a compact design, updated temperature controls, and a built-in steam wand, according to product specifications. Local coffee shops reported no immediate plans to switch over, but several owners said they expect more customers to ask about home brewing as the discount continues.
The current sale is part of a wider promotion on Fellow’s site, though it is not clear how long the reduced price will last. As of Tuesday afternoon, the company had not responded to a request for comment on future pricing or local retail partnerships.
