A new In-N-Out Burger has been announced as the anchor tenant for The Canopy, a large retail and dining development in Irvine, California. The project sits within Great Park, a $1 billion outdoor complex spanning more than 12 acres—an area larger than Central Park.
The Canopy is set to feature 90,000 square feet of commercial space, including restaurants, grocery stores, and retail outlets. According to developers, the area is designed as an 'all-day destination' for locals and visitors. Renderings released last week show open-air seating, shaded walkways, and a mix of casual and full-service dining.
Construction at the site has accelerated since late spring. On Monday, workers could be seen setting up fencing and preparing the ground near the planned In-N-Out location. Project managers say the burger chain will occupy a prominent spot near the main entrance.
The development comes as Orange County suburbs see continued investment in large-scale lifestyle centers. Opening dates for The Canopy’s tenants have not been finalized, but a spokesperson for the project expects several businesses to begin serving customers later this summer.
