A new restaurant and bar focused on Northern Mexican cuisine has opened in Dumbo. The project is a collaboration between Alan Delgado, previously of Los Burritos Juárez in Brooklyn, and Ivy Mix, a James Beard Awards finalist known for her work at Whoopsie Daisy. The space, which began service quietly on Wednesday, sits on a busy Water Street block near the Manhattan Bridge.
Early Thursday lunch saw a mix of neighborhood workers and families ordering from a menu heavy on flour tortillas, grilled meats, and regional salsas. Prices for burritos start at $15, with larger platters reaching $28. The cocktail list leans toward agave spirits, with a short section for low-alcohol drinks. Mix, who oversees the bar, has said the drinks menu draws on her travels in northern Mexico, with a focus on sotol and bacanora.
The restaurant’s interior features exposed brick and low lighting, with a 40-seat dining room and additional tables outside. The team is planning late-night hours on Fridays and Saturdays through the summer. Staff said they expect to add weekend brunch in July.
Dumbo has seen a wave of new openings as summer crowds return to the waterfront. Delgado and Mix say they hope to appeal to both destination diners and local regulars. Reservations are available online, though walk-ins were filling much of the space on opening day.
