In Queens, a manager at Jackson Heights’ Arepa Lady mentioned they would offer a family-style platter for the holiday. The special includes grilled meats, plantains, and four house-made salsas. Pricing is set at $68 for a table of four.
For dessert, bakeries reported an increase in advance orders for blueberry pie and chocolate cake. At Petee’s Pie Company on Delancey Street, the owner said Saturday pickup slots are filling up. Seasonal berries and stone fruits are appearing on pie menus for the first time this spring.
With school semesters winding down and temperatures rising, outdoor tables are in demand. Several restaurants advise booking ahead through the weekend. Many said they expect a steady Sunday crowd, especially for early dinner.
