On Sunday, Sam’s Club introduced a meal kit priced under $16, aiming to attract families looking for low-cost dinner options. The kit, available at select locations in Brooklyn and Long Island, is designed to serve four people and includes pre-portioned protein, vegetables, and sauce.
The move comes as food prices remain high across the city. A Sam’s Club representative at the Linden Boulevard store said the meal kits have drawn steady interest from members since their arrival over the weekend.
Warehouse clubs like Sam’s and Costco have seen increased foot traffic this summer as more New Yorkers search for ways to stretch household budgets. On Monday afternoon, shoppers at the Maspeth location cited convenience and price as key reasons for picking up the kits, which include chicken stir-fry and pasta bake variants.
The store’s signage advertises the meal kits as a weeknight solution, with preparation times under 30 minutes. Sam’s Club has also expanded its ready-to-heat and grab-and-go offerings this month, responding to member requests for quicker meal prep options during the peak summer season.
As outdoor temperatures remain high, many families report spending less time cooking at home and more time looking for prepared or semi-prepared meals. Sam’s Club management says additional varieties could be introduced in the coming weeks if demand holds steady.
