Superpretzel is offering a star-shaped version of its soft pretzel this summer, marking the lead-up to the United States’ 250th anniversary. The new design began appearing at several concession stands across the city this past weekend. The release coincides with early summer events as school terms wind down and outdoor gatherings pick up.

At Citi Field on Monday, vendors swapped the usual twisted pretzels for the new five-point shape at select carts. The price remains the same as the classic version, $5.50. According to a spokesperson, distribution will expand to more venues in the coming weeks, ahead of July 4.

The change comes as restaurants and food companies across the city prepare for the commemorations planned throughout the summer. Several bakeries in Brooklyn and Queens have reported increased orders for red, white, and blue pastries and desserts.

Superpretzel’s star-shaped pretzels are expected to be available through Labor Day. The company has not said if the product will return after the summer season ends.
