The Australian chocolate biscuit, newly stocked in U.S. stores, has attracted attention from local customers. Employees reported some individuals buying multiple cases at once.
Tim Tams, long popular in Australia, are known for their chocolate coating and cream filling. Packages are priced at $8.99 for a multipack. By mid-afternoon on Thursday, shelves in Queens and Staten Island locations showed limited stock.
A store manager at the Rego Park branch said the initial shipment arrived earlier this week and sold quickly. “People are asking about a restock before the weekend,” the manager said. Some shoppers posted photos of empty shelves on social media Thursday night.
Costco has not announced if additional shipments will arrive before July. Other major retailers in the city do not currently carry the imported snack. For now, demand appears to outpace supply, with the rush expected to continue into the weekend.
The arrival of Tim Tams coincides with the start of summer break for public schools, drawing larger crowds to area warehouses. Late afternoon on Friday, families were seen leaving with full cases of the cookies, alongside bulk groceries and grilling supplies.
