Wendy’s has introduced a limited edition pickle fries menu item, but only in its Canadian locations. The chain’s move comes weeks after McDonald’s ran a similar pickle fries promotion in the United States, which sold out quickly and prompted long lines at several New York City outlets.

On Tuesday, social media users voiced frustration over Wendy’s decision to launch the item north of the border. Many accused the chain of copying McDonald’s, while others questioned why the fries are not available in U.S. stores, especially as summer crowds seek new snacks late into the night.

A Wendy’s representative did not respond to requests for comment on potential U.S. availability. In Midtown, several lunchtime diners expressed disappointment, with one office worker calling the promotion "a tease for New Yorkers who love anything fried and briny."

Pickle-flavored items have drawn attention in recent months, particularly among younger customers. On Tuesday afternoon, a manager at a Flatbush McDonald’s said they still receive daily requests for the discontinued fries. Some online resellers are advertising leftover McDonald’s pickle fries for as much as $15 per serving.
