Williamsburg will see the arrival of a new Tex-Mex spot as Yellow Rose prepares to open later this month. The East Village restaurant is expanding into Brooklyn, taking over the address previously occupied by Southern eatery Rose Marie.
Rose Marie served its last customers on Saturday. The closure comes less than two years after the restaurant opened on Metropolitan Avenue. The owners, Dave and Krystiana Rizo, also run Yellow Rose in the East Village, where breakfast tacos and margaritas are mainstays.
The transition is already underway. On Monday morning, paper covered the windows at the former Rose Marie space. A sign taped to the door directed passersby to look out for Yellow Rose’s opening in the coming weeks.
Yellow Rose first gained attention in Manhattan for its flour tortillas, housemade salsas, and casual atmosphere. The Brooklyn location is expected to serve a similar menu, with possible additions tailored to the neighborhood.
The opening comes as Williamsburg’s summer foot traffic increases. Restaurant openings in the area tend to draw crowds, especially as locals and visitors seek new spots to escape the heat.
