Danavon Caine, a chef employed at a Yosemite National Park concession, was taken into custody on July 31. According to law enforcement, Caine faces charges related to the alleged sexual abuse of a teenage coworker.
Caine, a Jamaican national, was working under an H-2B visa, a program that allows international workers for temporary jobs in the U.S. The reported incident took place at an employee housing facility inside the park.
Officials confirmed that park rangers and local deputies responded after a complaint was filed by the alleged victim, who is under 18. Caine was arrested on site without incident.
On Wednesday, court documents in California listed charges of sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a minor. The accused chef remained in custody as of this week, pending further legal proceedings.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about oversight and safety for seasonal workers at national parks and tourist destinations. Representatives for the concession company have not responded to requests for comment as of Wednesday morning.
